Taylor Swift didn’t waste any time addressing her personal life — or that Kanye West VMA incident, for that matter — during her hosting stint on this week’s “Saturday Night Live,” tackling both in her opening monologue. With, appropriately enough, a song.
Strumming her guitar to a tune called “The Monologue Song (La La La),” Swift sang lines like, “You might think I’d bring up Joe, that guy who broke up with me on the phone/ Hey, Joe, I’m doing real well, tonight I’m hosting ‘SNL’ ” (a reference, of course, to her former boyfriend, Joe Jonas). She also made light of the prevailing rumor that she’s dating “New Moon” star Taylor Lautner with the verse, “If you’re wondering if I might/ Be dating the werewolf […]

The 39-year-old Army psychiatrist opened fire on his fellow soldiers Thursday, according to reports, killing 13 and wounding at least 30 before being shot four times by Sergeant Kimberly Munley, a civilian police officer employed by the Army, who many are praising as a hero who saved countless lives by stopping the rampage.
Hasan, whose job it was to counsel physically and psychologically wounded soldiers returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, was described by those who knew him as a calm, gentle person, but one whose anger was stoked by alleged harassment from some of his Army peers over his Muslim faith.

The singer said her father was severely abusive to her mother in the past and hit her “numerous” times. There are always plenty of parties in New York on New Year’s Eve, but despite the chaos in Times Square, the best shindig is usually at Madison Square Garden. In the past few years, the venue has hosted a high-profile music act to ring in the new year. The spot is typically reserved for jam bands (Phish have hosted legendary marathon shows in the building, while last year’s headliner was My Morning Jacket, who jammed their way into 2009), but this year’s show will focus on a true superstar: Mariah Carey.
Carey announced that she would be headlining MSG on New Year’s Eve via her Twitter and on her Web site on Thursday night.
“Mariah Carey, the #1 most successful female recording artist of all time will be live at New York’s famous Madison Square […]
